OrthoGraph 8.4 available in AppStore

The new version of OrthoGraph Architect has been recently released. Our developers were working in the previous months on this project and as result we can boost several new features.

The first and most important innovation is that now OrthoGraph Architect supports Leica Disto D810 Touch, the first laser distance meter with touch screen.

More info about the D810: http://www.leica-geosystems.com/en/Leica-DISTO-D810-touch_104560.htm

You can now duplicate projects as well. This new function can be very useful when you want to improve your project two or more different ways and you would like to try different solutions. Just choose the "duplicate project" icon and a copy of your project will be available. After that you can work with them as separate projects.

The third new feature is the GPS availability in hotspots. Why is it so great? Because you can measure the coordinates with a click and you can locate your building easily. Place your floor plan on the map with the help of the GPS function.

Last but not least, an improved measurement-handling engine helps you work even better with OrthoGraph. Enjoy the new features and if you have any suggestions do not hesitate to write us a comment.

Best,
The OrthoGraph Team

OrthoGraph Architect supports Leica Disto hardware

It's been a long time we wanted to develop the integration of OrthoGraph Architect iPad and the Leica distance meters. The problem has always been that the iPad hardware and the Leica Bluetooth was not compatible with each other (some licensing problem was the reason). Now it did not change anything! :) But there is a small box named SerialIO Blue Snap SPP-KEY Bridge that can connect to the Leica Disto device and to the iPad at the same time allowing them to communicate to each-other.

As we purchased this small blue box, and got support from Leica for the development we have developed the communication between these two devices, so that OrthoGraph can accept distance values from Leica devices. This new feature will be available in the free update for our users in the beginning of October 2012.

What you will need for using these devices together are:

- Leica Disto (Bluetooth compatible hardware)
- SerialIO Blue Snap SPP-KEY Bridge
- OrthoGraph Architect installed on your iPad.

Let us mention that the SerialIO team is not much supportive, therefore to setup the hardware level communication between the Leica and iPad devices you need to go through a really difficult procedure, and SerialIO does not have actually the willingness to make it simpler (this is the beginning of the procedure, and this is the second part, the iPad). We will try to prepare a video for you about the setup procedure, but we have to mention that you will be needed to be an advanced user and also need a screwdriver for doing that. Stay tuned for OrthoGraph news and videos.

Stunning new features coming soon!

Although it is summer and we seem to be lying on the beach, but (unfortunately for us and fortunately for you :)) it is not true. We are working on 3 new features now, and you will definitely like all of them.

We have many e-mails where you are asking for the possibility to create notes. We understand that this is a good and handy feature to make surveys more informative, so we decided to implement it.

We are also fixing some issues with the 3D furniture, and we will finish this new labeling feature soon (e.g. creating notices on the floor plan, see preview picture on the right!)

This release might be in the AppStore within 2 weeks (Friday we will send it for review to Apple, which is 4-5 workdays).

The second thing will be the support of the Leica laser distance meters. Finally we have found with your help a device, which solves that bluetooth incompatibility issue through that small blue bluetooth bridge you can see in the picture. This small device can translate between the Leica Disto D8 (or D3aBT, or A6) and the iPad.

The release with the feature which allows OrthoGraph Architect to understand these messages as distances in any unit setting of the Disto, will be issued a week after the label feature.

The third ongoing development will be available approximately 2 weeks after (this is around a Month from now), and this will be the simplified creation of new rooms (http://bit.ly/NB9psz). With this feature you will be able to create new rooms connecting to existing rooms with a small sketch and a tap.
So things are happening soon, stay tuned!
